A vast sea of stars

Unknowing, unending

Furious and still

In the silence, I cry out

and hear no response.

Fermi must be wrong 

For no one calls back.

But somewhere in that dark

They watch, aware

Of  beasts in the night.

Those ravenous eyes

Stalking in the dark forest.”
